Welcome to my professional teaching website!
I received my B.A. in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of California, San Diego in 2008. After graduating, I worked for a year and then lived in Mexico, where I increased my Spanish fluency and decided that teaching English as a second/foreign language was for me! In 2012, I received my M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) in 2012. I also received a certificate in Language Program Administration. For most of my life, I have been fascinated with language because of its complexity, fun, and humanness. Teaching it makes perfect sense to me because I greatly enjoy helping others achieve their dreams.
Overall, I have worked with students of all ages, but I primarily work with adults on a regular basis. Since 2010, I have been teaching and tutoring ESL, typically Academic English and General English. Please see my CV page to see more about my education and professional history. I also offer tutor students for English courses, typically high school and college students. Occasionally, I tutor Spanish. Please see my Tutoring page to learn more about my background in offering one-on-one and small group courses.
Service is also very important to me. I volunteered as a teacher and was the program coordinator of the ESL program for the Monterey Peace and Justice Center. Currently, I volunteer with Corazón de Vida, both as a teacher/coordinator of the Summer ESL program and other events.
My areas of teaching interest include Academic English (primarily Reading and Writing), Literacy, Speaking and Pronunciation, Creative Writing, Content Based Instruction, and Web 2.0.
I consider myself a creative individual who loves to cook, write, read, listen to music, dabble in photography, and use technology to connect with other educators and those passionate about language.
